Nel numero 787 del marzo 2010 di «Casabella» in questi giorni in edicola compare il saggio di Jean-Lousi Cohen, Leonidov finalmente riscoperto. Si tratta di una lunga recensione del libro di Alessandro De Magistris e Irina Korob'ina, Ivan Leonidov, 1902-1959, Electa, Milano 2009.
Poiché Leonidov fu uno dei massimi architetti del Novecento, il più originale tra i progettisti che hanno illustrato la storia dell'architettura russa a partire dagli anni Venti e il più influente tra gli esponenti dell'avanguardia sovietica come questo volume dimostra offrendo una notevole quantità di documenti inediti e di disegni e progetti altrettanto sconosciuti, riteniamo opportuno mettere a disposizione del maggior numero possibile di lettori quanto Jean-Louis Cohen ha scritto. Facendolo ci auguriamo di contribuire non soltanto a una nuova riscoperta della figura di Leonidov, ma anche di fornire a quanti ci seguono (che nel libro potranno anche prendere visione dei testi pubblicati da Leonidov e di quelli dedicati alla sua opera dai contemporanei autori russi) l'occasione per meditare sull'opera di uno dei progettisti che più ha saputo cogliere e vivere le tensioni artistiche e intellettuali che hanno attraversato in profondità la cultura del secolo scorso.

In issue no. 787, March 2010, of «Casabella», now on newsstands, there is an essay by Jean-Louis Cohen, “Leonidov finally rediscovered”. This is a long review of the book by Alessandro De Magistris and Irina Korob'ina, Ivan Leonidov, 1902-1959, Electa, Milan 2009. Since Leonidov was one of the greatest architects of the 20th century, the most original among the designers who illustrated the history of Russian architecture starting in the 1920s, and the most influential of the exponents of the Soviet avant-garde, as this book demonstrates, offering a remarkable quantity of previously unavailable documents, drawings and projects, we feel it is worthwhile to make what Cohen has written available to the largest possible number of readers. By doing this, we hope to contribute not only to a new rediscovery of the figure of Leonidov, but also to offer our readers (who in the book will also find texts published by Leonidov and those on his work by Russian authors of the day) an opportunity to consider the work of one of the architects most fully capable of grasping and living the artistic and intellectual tensions that so deeply marked the culture of the 20th century.
